Egg Fried Rice

Toasted sesame oil is a must for this recipe if you can find it. Impress your friends, and ditch the local Chinese takeaway with this healthier and tastier egg fried rice dish.

What you need to get

  • 1 tray VeeTee Basmati Rice

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • ½ a red onion, sliced

  • ½ a red pepper, sliced

  • 1 handful of green peas

  • 3 spring onion bulbs, sliced

  • 5 green beans, sliced

  • ½ carrot, julienne sliced

  • 6 tsp light soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 2 tbsp rice wine vinegar

  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste


What you need to do

  1. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a pan/wok. When the oil is very hot, add the beaten eggs to the wok/frying pan, and cook for few minutes. Remove egg from wok and set aside.

  2. Microwave VeeTee Basmati rice according to instructions.

  3. Heat one tablespoon of sesame oil in the same pan/wok, then add the onion and stir fry for a few seconds, before adding all the vegetables together.

  4. Add the VeeTee rice to the pan/wok, then mix in all other remaining ingredients, along with the cooked egg.

  5. Mix, season to taste and serve hot.
