How to cook Risotto rice
There’s a common misconception that cooking risotto is difficult and complicated – but it doesn’t have to be! One of the most important things is the pan you cook it in. It needs to be heavy-bottomed so it evenly retains heat and each grain of rice is cooked the same.
Next, make sure you give it constant attention. It needs lots of stirring so it doesn’t burn, and it’s important to serve immediately. The longer it stands, the more you’ll lose it’s creamy texture.
How to cook Basmati rice
Cooking perfect Basmati rice from scratch is tricky, but don’t let it put you off. Try the hob method – it gives fluffy, aromatic rice every time!
Firstly, rinse the rice under cold running water. Then pop it in a large pan of boiling water, and add salt as desired. Stir once, then cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes. Drain it well, fluff the grains with a fork and voila!

How to cook Brown rice
Brown rice takes a little longer to cook than other types. Firstly, you need to run it under cold water until the water runs clear. Then, ensure you use a large saucepan. It’ll heat the rice more evenly, and it needs a tight fitting lid to help the rice absorb moisture while cooking.
TOP TIP: Once it’s cooked, heat some oil in a saucepan and pop the rice in for a minute or two. It’ll give it a deeper, toasted flavour. Yum.
