Veetee Blog UK: National Rice Week

14 September 2016 Veetee Blog UK: National Rice Week

National Rice Week
19 - 25 September 2016

Win One Year’s Supply of Rice from Veetee.

Buddha once said: “Whoever offers rice, offers the life itself”, recognising the nutritional values of rice, as it is a valuable source of carbohydrates, giving body a boost of energy, stimulating brain activity and strengthening the nervous system.

Rice is often considered as a gift from Gods and a symbol of fertility and life in many countries, where it is a longstanding tradition to throw rice as confetti at the newlyweds wishing them happiness and good luck. While back in the day in ancient Greece Hippocrates of Kos, who is considered as one of the most outstanding figures in history of medicine, made the Olympians eat rice before and after the events.

Existing for more than a thousand years, rice is now one of the most popular grains in the world. To this date there are more than 20 different varieties of rice, with the wild rice considered to be the healthiest (Did you know that wild rice is actually a grass?).

To celebrate the grain we all know and love during The Rice Association’s National Rice Week (19 – 25 September 2016) Veetee, a supporting partner of the event, is giving away one year’s rice supply to one lucky rice lover.

To enter the competition simply visit our Veetee Official Facebook or Twitter pages on from Friday 16th September and tell us why rice is your store cupboard favourite to #win
