Although considered a rice grain due to its cooking method and appearance, wild rice is in fact a water grass seed which grows in lakes and rivers in Northern America. The seed is long and slender in appearance with a subtle nutty texture. The benefits of eating wild rice include a higher protein and fibre content than some other whole grains.
