Assistant Manager - Procurement

To ensure efficient and timely procurement of packaging & raw material sku’s for the company (managing an annual buying budget of circa £15 million with 1 other team member). The role has end to end responsibility to ensure availability of raw materials in line with production and sales requirements.
Managing the process of supply chain planning to ensure there is a constant availability in the factory of all the necessary raw material and packaging materials for smooth running of operations.
New vendor development and maintenance of existing partnerships.
Part-take in commercial negotiations alongside the Group Finance Director on an annual basis (i.e., contract negotiations)
Ensuring the legal contracts are appropriate and assess risks arising from such third-party contracts, have mitigation plans in place to overcome risks.
Ensure stock integrity (help in month end stock takes and reconciliations with wider team)
Support NPD team to secure product and listings as and when required
Prepare ad hoc reports and presentations required by the business
Attend food and packaging exhibitions from time to time
Liaise daily with internal departments including NPD, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Technical, Operations
Any other reasonable duties, responsibility or requests that may be issued by management from time to time
A minimum of a 2:1 degree (or equivalent), within a business or appropriate related subject., 1st Class degrees are preferred
CIPS qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
Recent experience working within a purchasing or supply chain role, desirable
Excellent working knowledge of managing data through Excel & ERP system
Good IT skills, proficient in MS Office suite – mainly Excel and Outlook but including Word, PowerPoint and Access databases.
Purchasing and supply chain processes and the enthusiasm to enhance knowledge
Strong commercial acumen and negotiating skills are essential for the candidate to be successful in this role
Organisational skills and able to prioritise own workload
Positive attitude and adaptable to any environment
