History

1987 

  • Veetee Rice was founded in North London.  Under pressure from family run rice farms in India to sell rice
  • First rice mill is purchased to take advantage of the lower European import duties for unmilled brown rice and the business moves to premises in North London. Milling capacity is approximately 15,000 tonnes per annum.

1992

  • Based on knowledge and expertise gained from the UK and to control raw material quality, Veetee establishes a facility in India with a milling capacity of 40,000 tonnes.

1993

  • Veetee Rice moves to new premises and their current base in Rochester, Kent with a purpose built riverside facility with a milling capacity of 50,000 tonnes per annum.

1998

  • UK milling capacity increased to 70,000 tonnes.

2000  

  • Seed project established by Picric ltd - involving seed distribution with a buy back arrangement to encourage and support local farmers  

2001

  • Veetee becomes one of the largest rice suppliers to UK retail market.
  • Organic rice cultivation begins in India.

2003  

  • Veetee Food Service division started in the UK.

2005   

  • Veetee Foods Ltd established with $25m investment in a unique manufacturing process using bursts of steam to cook natural white rice.
  • Veetee India milling capacity is increased by 30%.

2007   

  • Veetee Dine In microwave rice launched gaining distribution in all the major retailers in the UK, Belgium, Germany and Netherlands

2008  

  • Veetee Dine In launches in the USA.
  • Milling capacity for Veetee India is increased to 100,000 tonnes per annum.

2009  

  • Veetee Dine In range is expanded to include, for the first time, flavoured recipe products.

2011

  • Further investment into new packing operation and mill expansion in UK increasing annual milling capacity to 125,000 tonnes. 
  • Second production line installed in Veetee Foods to double capacity for manufacturing microwave rice dishes.
  • Additional warehouse capacity acquired in the UK.
